This year marked an unusual snowless winter, however, the team still managed to compete. Bishop’s hosted the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union Ski Championships where they finished 5th in cross country, 6th in slalom, 7th in downhill and 8th in jumping.
Led by President Johnny Oullet, the team finished second at a downhill meet at Hillcrest as well as at a 12-mile cross-country relay race. The team continued to grow and was projected to become a major sport at Bishop’s.
The inter-university ski union was formed this year. The team participated in many meets, however, they were unable to finish on the podium.
The University held a cross-country and slalom meet; where Bob Graham and Roy Stewart shared the honours of winning first place. The team placed second in the annual Zone meet.
The team competed in a slalom event at Eustis as well as the Orford Classic. Coached by Iain Scott, the team was known as the Bishop’s University “Snow Dusters”.
The team competed in the Eastern Townships Ski Meet. Coached by Dick Tomlinson and Jack Peake, the girls finished towards the bottom of the pack.
In each event entered, there was a Bishop's skier who placed in ranking position. The team won the Codère trophy; for winning in cross country and slalom ski races. Once again, the team won the Eastern Townships Zone meet with ease.
A few untimely thaws allowed for little skiing, forcing many meets to be cancelled. The team participated in the Eastern Townships Zone meet; winning each event and bringing home the championship.
The college representatives dominated many of the Ski Meets in the Eastern Townships. Meets were held at Waterloo, Mont Tremblant and North Hatley.
This year marks the first year where skiing was recognized as a competitive sport at Bishop’s. The team obtained membership in the C.A.S.A.. They competed in three competitions and practiced at North Hatley.
