Coached by Tom Allen, the team missed out on the OQIFC playoffs with a 2-5 regular season record. Tom Allen announced a five year plan that would result in a national championship. Marc Loranger was added as a defensive coordinator.

The gaiters returned to playoff action for the first time in three years. With a 4-4 league record, Bishop’s lost in the first round of playoffs to Concordia 27-17. The team was coached by Tom Allen.
Five weeks into the season with a record of 3-2, Ian Breck stepped down as head coach. Tom Allen would fill in and continue coaching the team into the 1998-99 season.
The gaiters finished with a 5-3 season record and lost in the first round of the playoffs to Queens. The team was coached by Ian Breck.
Ranked 1st nationally for their defence, the men won the OQIFC with an overall record of 8-2. They lost the national championship to Concordia under the coaching of Ian Breck.
With an overall record of 9-1, the gaiters were consistently ranked as a top 3 team in the nation. Under the coaching of Ian Breck (CIAU Coach of the year), the men won their third consecutive O.Q.I.F.C. championship. They lost to queens 32-6 in the national final and were led by 1st team All Canadians Tom Europe and Eric Edwards.
Lead by QB Silvio Martel who broke an OQIFC record by passing 2734 in a single season, the team was second in average points per game (20). Bernard was the sole All Canadian and he also won the Presidents Trophy for outstanding defensive play. The men played in their fifth OQIFC final in six years, however, lost to Queens by a last minute field goal. The team was coached by Jacques Chapdelaine.
The Gaiters captured their third O.Q.I.F.C. Championship in five years. Coached by Ian Breck, they finished the season ranked 4th in Canada. The team was led by All Canadian Derrick Joseph.

Led by new head coach Ian Breck, the team won the O.Q.I.F.C. championship over Queens. An unfortunate first round loss to St. Mary’s at the National Championship ended their season. Joseph and Blugh (recipient of the presidents cup for outstanding defensive play) received All Canadian honours.
The team were O.Q.I.F.C. Champions as well as undefeated in the regular season. They surprisingly lost the national championship to McGill 32-16 as Bishop’s was the popular favourite. Head Coach Bruce Coulter was selected as CIAU Coach of the year and after 26 years, he announced his retirement from the organization. Ian Breck would take over the reigns for the 1988-89 season.
Under the coaching of Bruce Coulter (who was coaching in his silver anniversary year), the men finished with a 6-1 record. They won the O.Q.I.F.C. by defeating Carleton 38-19. All Canadians Tony Harris (led the nation in passing yards) and Wally Zatyini (led the league in receiving) led the team.
Under the coaching of Bruce Coulter, the team won the provincial championships and were OQIFC Finalists.
Despite their 0-7 record, the gaiters lost four games by less than a touchdown and averaged 20 points per game. Riddled with injuries to key players, the men wee never able to create a proper rhythm. The team was coached by Bruce Coulter.
Coached by Bruce Coulter, the team was once again plagued by injuries and scrambled to gain a playoff spot, in which McGill ousted them. Bishop’s season record was 2-4 and they finished fifth out of six.
The men finished the season in fourth place under the coaching of Bruce Coulter. As it was a rebuilding year, the future of the team looked very bright.
Littred with injuries, the men missed the playoffs by one game. Jim Etcheverry won all-conference MVP under the coaching of Bruce Coulter.
Coached by Bruce Coulter, the team lost in the championships to Queens. They were considered a write off at the beginning of the season; however, due to hard work and dedication the young squad was able to be a championship contender.
Coached by Canada’s coach of the year Bruce Coulter, five players were named to the OQIFC All Star Team. The gaiters led the nation in scoring and yards per game. Going 5-2 in the regular season, the gaiters lost the league championship to Queens 45-27.
The team placed second in the QUAA with a 5-2 record under the coaching of Bruce Coulter. The gaiters also lead the league in offence with 3571 yards.
The men went 2-3 in the regular season and had 23 rookies. Head coach Bruce Coulter was joined by Al Grazys, Bob Gillies and Brian Roy.
